XIV Architecture

The XIV is currently available in a single rack enclosure with a mixture of Data Modules (Modules containing 12x 1TB disks and internal interfaces) and Interface Modules (Data modules but include host attachment interfaces).

Only a certain configuration of these modules can be configured at this time, which are reflected in the table below.

Note that you need a minimum of 9 modules in order to support iSCSI connectivity

Note that fewer modules provide fewer SATA spindles, therefore an XIV with fewer modules will have a lower IOP performance than an XIV with more modules.
