TCR - Report Generation

Interactive (On Demand)

For the purposes of this exercise we’ll look at the “CPU Utilization for Single Resource” report.

1. Begin by navigating to the Common Reporting pane and open up the report tree. Then click on the “Utilization” link in the tree to bring up the list of available utilisation reports. Right click on “CPU Utilization for Single Resource” and hover/click on “View As” to select from the report formats. Click on “HTML”:

2. Select “linux” from the first dropdown menu. Allow a few seconds for the second list to be populated, then choose one of the available servers. Pull the slider down to see other options (the defaults are satisfactory for now). Press “Run”:

Note that additional information is available by clicking on “Expand Details” at the bottom:

Scheduled/Unattended

Note that in order to make sensible use of this functionality you should install TIP/TCR on an “always on” machine.

1. Begin by navigating to the Common Reporting pane and open up the report tree. Then click on the “Utilization” link in the tree to bring up the list of available utilisation reports. Right click on “CPU Utilization for Single Resource” and click on “Schedules...”:

2. Click on the “Schedule Snapshot...” button:

3. From the “Report Parameters” tab, select an OS and server as before:

4. Then, switch to the “Schedule” tab, give the new scheduled report a suitable name and select an appropriate schedule from the choices available. To demonstrate the functionality, select a once only report at a time a few minutes from “now”. Click “OK”:

5. The newly created scheduled report is displayed in the list of scheduled reports. Note the state is “Pending” (i.e. waiting to be run):

6. If you view the schedule list at the right time you should see the status as “Running”:

7. And afterwards, as “Completed”:

8. Click on “OK” to close the window and return to the reports pane. You may need to drag the bottom part of the frame up to reveal the list of report snapshot. Note that you may also need to refresh the display to see the updated list:

9. To view the report, right click on it and choose “View As”, together with an appropriate format (PDF in the example, below):
