Installing TSM Clients

Copy across the binaries and an example DSM.OPT file to the client system, and edit the DSM.OPT file to reflect client details. Execute the binaries and follow the prompts, reboot is only required if Open File/LVSA option selected.
Register the node within the TSM Server using the server CLI. (Like adding a user in effect);
register node ''nodename password'' domain=''domain'' clopt=''client_options'' user=none hladdr=''ip_address'' lladdr=1500 passexp=0
By default we normally set node passwords the same as the node name. It is advised that the customer change these values post-install.
Run the TSM BA client GUI from the start menu in Windows. From the menus run the SCHEDULER wizard THEN WEB wizard or DSMCAD will fail. Do not select CLUSTERNODE even on a cluster for local nodes.
If this sequence is carried out in the wrong order the fix is;
- Open a command prompt and CD to the baclient directory.
- type DSMCUTIL UPDATE CAD /NAME:"name of cad service" /CADSCHEDNAME:"name of scheduler service controlled by the CAD service"
- There will be messages about authenticating with TSM server, and registry values were updated.
- Stop and restart the CAD service. Stop the scheduler service if it is in a started state.
