Installation of TIP/TCR

Pre-requisites

  • Network access to the TDW.
  • Java runtime installed (http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp)
  • Internet access is useful.
  • The TDW needs data for the reports and must be summarised at hourly and daily levels (configure via Tivoli Enterprise Portal).
  • Installer (shipped with ITM).

Walk Through

1. Insert the installation CD and allow to autorun, or navigate to the installation directory and double-click the launchpad executable:

2. Select your language and click OK:

3. Click on “Install Tivoli Common Reporting”:

4. Click on the installation link:

5. Wait for a couple of minutes while the installer is unpacked:

6. Click “OK”:

7. Click “Next”:

8. Accept the license agreement and click “Next”:

9. Wait a few seconds while the deployment is configured:

10. Wait a couple of minutes while the deployment tool is installed:

11. Choose an installation directory or leave the default (C:\IBM\tivoli\tip). The basic size of TCR (without any reports installed) is approximately 447MB. Click “Next”:

12. Choose the type of installation required. The default will be sufficient for most purposes. Click “Next”:

13. Chose and enter a suitably secure password for the TIP administrator. You will need to enter this twice. Press “Next”:

14. Check the pre-installation summary and click “Install” to proceed:

15. Wait for the installation to finish. It takes a while. Go and have lunch - or a holiday in the Bahamas:

16. When you get back, you should have the success screen and a link to the console. Note that in all probability “localhost” will be the machine name of your PC. You may use either to access the portal. Click “Done”:

17. Clicking on “Done” in the previous step does not actually mean it is done. You have to wait a little longer while the TCR framework is configured:

18. Finally, you really are finished and you may elect to launch the tool after clicking “Done” once more. Note that I have seen IE8 hang when launching the portal from this screen.
