HMC (Hardware Management Console) Situations and Resoultions.

Below are resolutions to some of the situations we have encountered.

Situation – Want to boot POWER5 system from HMC command line?

Resolution - Get a list of LPAR’s on your hardware
lssyscfg -r lpar -m <machine name>
To start an LPAR
chsysstate -m <machine name> -r lpar -o on -n <lpar name> -f <profile name>
Notes - machine name is the name of the platform - it will be something like
"9119-590*514736E".
If you run "lssysconn -r all" on the hmc, it will give you a list of frames it can see.
